Ask The Experts About Nanomedicine

Chris asks…
is medicine and nanomedicine the same????

admin answers:
The definition of Nanomedicine has not been clearly defined:
Some definitions are:
A) “More than just an extension of “molecular medicine,” nanomedicine will employ molecular machine systems to address medical problems, and will use molecular knowledge to maintain and improve human health at the molecular scale. ”
B) “Nanomedicine is the preservation and improvement of human health using molecular tools and molecular knowledge of the human body.”
Maybe more simply put nanomedicine uses nanomaterials and/or molecular machines to improve the health of individuals. (MY DEFINITION)
Thus it would be a sub-area of medicine.
However nanomedicine applies to amny different medical specialties such as – in imaging, in drug delivery, in a diagnostic test etc.
